Glazed Hörmann ALR F42 Glazing sectional doors on a car showroom
SECTOR - CAR DEALERSHIP

Doors for car dealerships
& showrooms

shop front RC2 anti-burglary 2 m/s bodyshop 200k cycles (option)

Your showroom displays premium vehicles , cars move through your workshop all day long, your bodyshop needs high-speed doors for movements between zones. Fermelux installs the right Hörmann doors for each use - ALR F42 Glazing for the shop front, SPU F42 for the workshop, V 5030 SEL for fast flows. From Luxembourg City to Esch-Belval, we equip car dealerships as well as independent workshops.

WHY FERMELUX FOR YOUR DEALERSHIP

Built for your brand image

A car dealership runs three businesses in the same building: commercial shop front, mechanical workshop, bodyshop. Each zone has its own constraints - maximum transparency on the showroom side, robustness on the workshop side, speed on the bodyshop side. We equip each zone with the Hörmann door that fits, not with an average compromise.

Shop front with no visible hardware

The Hörmann ALR F42 Glazing door is built around a slim aluminium frame and 26 mm scratch-resistant Duratec panels. No drive hardware is visible from the shop front - the customer's eye sees the car, not the door. This is the standard of premium European showrooms (Tesla, Porsche, Mercedes AMG).

RC2 overnight security for showrooms

A showroom displaying a fleet of high-end vehicles at night is a target. The RC2 option certified to DIN/TS 18194, available on the SPU F42 (to be confirmed with Hörmann for ALR glazed doors), resists break-ins with simple tools for 3 minutes - more than enough to trigger your alarm and a patrol. Always recommended on showroom accesses.

Fast flows between zones

Your vehicles are constantly moving: showroom → workshop → bodyshop → customer delivery. The V 5030 SEL opens at 2.0 m/s on the inside - against 0.19 m/s for a standard sectional door. As a result, your technicians wait far less at each transit, a noticeable gain in a high-traffic workshop.

Thermal insulation for showroom and workshop

A showroom heated to 20 °C or a workshop tempered to 16 °C loses its heat through the door if it is poorly insulated. The ALR 67 Thermo Glazing (U = 1.8 W/m²K for the installed door with double climate glazing, 1.7 with ThermoFrame) sharply reduces heat loss compared to single glazing (ALR F42 Glazing with single real glass: U = 6.1). The investment pays back in 3 to 4 heating seasons.

Preventive maintenance without downtime

A workshop that stops means 15 to 30 customer appointments postponed. Fermelux offers preventive maintenance contracts scheduled outside your peak hours, with a breakdown service Monday to Friday (8am-12pm / 1pm-5pm) on +352 691 545 407 (fast call-out subject to availability; outside these hours, only under a specific maintenance contract) and original Hörmann parts. Less unplanned downtime.

Visual consistency across sites

An automotive group with 3 to 8 dealerships in Luxembourg needs a coherent visual identity. We deploy the same ALR Glazing range across all showrooms - same RAL, same glazing, same Duratec finish - with a single technical contact.

RECOMMENDED COMBINATION

The Hörmann dealership trio

A typical car dealership combines three Hörmann door families - one per business: showroom front in ALR Glazing, mechanical workshop in SPU F42, bodyshop flow in V 5030 SEL. Each door is controlled independently but can report its state to your BMS or alarm system.

STANDARDS & COMPLIANCE

Compliant with automotive standards

A dealership door is work equipment under the Machinery Directive: compliance is mandatory and inspected by the ITM (Inspection du Travail et des Mines) in Luxembourg. We deliver with a CE certificate and a maintenance log.

EN 13241 - Industrial doors

Product standard covering safety, performance and CE marking. Mandatory for any motorised industrial door placed on the European market, including in car dealerships.

EN 13241:2003+A2:2016

EN 12453 - Safety in use

Defines closing forces, force limits and anti-crush devices. Checked at commissioning and during mandatory annual maintenance visits.

EN 12453:2017

DIN/TS 18194 - Anti-burglary

RC2 to RC3 classification for burglar-resistant doors. Recommended on showroom accesses displaying high-end vehicles outside business hours.

DIN/TS 18194:2020

EN 12428 - Thermal transmittance

Calculation method for the U-value of industrial doors. Reference for compliance with Luxembourg energy efficiency requirements for tertiary buildings.

EN 12428:2013

EN 12424 - Wind resistance

Classes 0 to 5. For south-west-facing glazed showroom façades (Luxembourg City / Bertrange axis), the class depends on exposure (class 4 = 1,000 Pa); Hörmann ALR and SPU doors reach class 3, and class 4 up to 4 m wide.

EN 12424:2000

Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC

General regulatory framework for motorised doors as work equipment. Maintenance log and annual inspection mandatory.

CRITICAL DEALERSHIP OPTIONS

Options that make the difference

These 12 options are not gadgets - they solve field issues we see every day in Luxembourg dealerships and workshops.

Scratch-resistant Duratec glazing
Hörmann synthetic glazing that is highly scratch-resistant, stays clear over time and insulates better. Ideal for showrooms exposed to the public and the weather.
ThermoFrame
Thermally broken profile between frame and masonry: installed-door U-value from 1.0 to 0.94 W/m²K on the SPU F42, from 1.8 to 1.7 W/m²K on the ALR 67 Thermo Glazing. Also improves sealing.
RC2 showroom certification
DIN/TS 18194, 3-minute burglary resistance with simple tools, available on SPU sectional doors (to be confirmed with Hörmann for ALR glazed doors). Recommended on showroom accesses displaying premium vehicles outside business hours.
Custom manufacturer RAL
Paint in the exact manufacturer RAL (Mercedes Silver, BMW Alpine White, Tesla Pearl White). Visual consistency guaranteed across sites.
Anodised E6/EV1 finish
Natural or bronze anodised aluminium for high-end showrooms. Premium appearance, UV resistance, no degradation over time.
Low-threshold wicket door
940 mm clear passage (SPU F42), stainless threshold 10 mm in the centre and 5 mm at the edges. Avoids full opening for customer/mechanic transits - energy savings + speed.
Stainless bottom door protection
304 stainless steel sheet on the bottom 500 mm, resistant to vehicle impacts and water cleaning, protects the bottom of the door leaf.
Real glass glazing
Real glass option on ALR Glazing: better sound insulation (Rw 30 dB versus 23 dB with synthetic glazing), ideal for a roadside showroom.
Workshop exit traffic lights
Red/amber/green synchronised with the door state to secure vehicle exit. Avoids collisions between incoming and outgoing vehicles.
Mechanic badge reader
Traceability of workshop/bodyshop access via personal badge. Opening log for insurance and HR audit. Compatible with existing systems.
BiSecur 128-bit radio
128-bit encrypted remote controls, signal protected against copying. Number of transmitters depends on the receiver, separate mechanic and management channels possible.
Preventive maintenance contract
2 to 4 visits/year scheduled outside your peak hours to limit downtime. Breakdown service Monday to Friday (8am-12pm / 1pm-5pm) on +352 691 545 407, fast call-out subject to availability; outside these hours, only under a specific maintenance contract.

The European standard for premium showrooms (Tesla, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche) is the Hörmann ALR F42 Glazing or ALR 67 Thermo Glazing: slim aluminium frame, 26 mm scratch-resistant Duratec panels, fully glazed door leaf. The 67 Thermo version is recommended if your showroom is heated to 20 °C (U = 1.8 W/m²K for the installed door with double climate glazing, 1.7 with ThermoFrame, versus 2.7 for the ALR F42 Glazing). For overnight security, have Hörmann confirm the availability of RC2 equipment on the chosen glazed version.
