From the HS 5 BS with status query to the HSE key-fob models and the large-button HSI 3 BS - every Hörmann BiSecur remote control communicates at 868 MHz with a 128-bit encrypted signal combining fixed code, rolling code and manufacturer key to protect against copying. Hand transmitters designed for security
Hörmann's BiSecur two-way radio system was designed specifically for garage doors and gates. Unlike generic fixed-code remote controls, each transmission combines a fixed-code part, a rolling-code part and a manufacturer key, with 128-bit encryption - a process certified by the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
128-bit encryption, two-way system
Every command sent by a BiSecur remote control is encrypted with 128 bits - Hörmann describes it as security equivalent to online banking. The system is two-way: with an HS 5 BS and a bidirectional receiver, the remote can query the door position. The HSE mini remotes are one-way transmitters.
Protection against signal copying
Classic fixed-code remote controls can be copied with cheap equipment available online. The BiSecur signal combines a fixed-code part, a rolling-code part and a manufacturer key, with 128-bit encryption, which protects it against copying. The process was certified by the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
Range that depends on the surroundings
Hörmann does not guarantee a specific range: local conditions (walls, vehicles, metal structures) affect it. As a guide, retailers quote around 30 m, which is usually enough to open your door from the street or the end of your driveway without leaving the vehicle.
Status feedback on the HS 5 BS
The HS 5 BS remote control has a query button: a green or red LED tells you whether your door is closed or open (with a bidirectional receiver, built into recent Hörmann operators). No more going back to check in bad weather - and you can close it remotely if needed (an additional photocell is required for use without direct line of sight).
Full compatibility with the Hörmann ecosystem
All BiSecur remote controls are interoperable with each other and with Hörmann BiSecur operators, keypads and receivers. A single remote can control the garage door, gate and front door lock - without any conversion accessory.
Long battery life
BiSecur remote controls run on standard batteries depending on the model (CR 2032 for the HSE 4 BS, AAA/LR03 for the HS 5 BS). Battery life depends on how often they are used. The battery can be replaced by the user in seconds, with no special tool.

The Hörmann range covers every use: 5-button remote with status feedback, key-fob format, impact-resistant IP 65 version, chrome design model, cigarette-lighter format - and the former HS 4 BS, which we replace with a current model.

Compatible with the whole Hörmann BiSecur range
BiSecur remote controls are natively compatible with all Hörmann operators fitted with the BiSecur protocol. Set to fixed code, they also control older Hörmann 868 MHz operators (2005-2012); for even older models (40 MHz), an external BiSecur receiver provides the upgrade.
