Burglar resistance RC2
European burglar-resistance class per EN 1627: holds for 3 minutes against a casual burglar with simple tools.
Definition
The EN 1627 standard classifies doors by burglar resistance into 6 levels (RC1 to RC6). RC2 is the recommended level for a detached house in Luxembourg: the door resists for at least 3 minutes an attempt with screwdriver, crowbar and wedges. Most burglars give up when a break-in takes more than a few minutes.
What makes an RC2 door
- Multi-point lock with 3 or 5 anchor points.
- Anti-drill and anti-pull cylinder.
- Reinforced hinges with anti-lift pins.
- Door leaf and frame reinforced against prising attacks.
- Additional mechanical locking at the bottom.

Frequently asked questions
Is RC2 enough for a house in Luxembourg?
Yes, RC2 is the level generally recommended for a detached house. RC3 is only justified for high-risk properties (jewellers, storage of valuables); Hörmann does not offer it on its sectional garage doors anyway.
