Hörmann shaft drive
The Hörmann shaft drive (WA) range is the market standard for motorising industrial sectional doors. From the economical WA 300 S4 to the high-performance WA 500 FU (up to 1.0 m/s, 25 to 30 cycles/h), every model mounts directly on the door spring shaft. Fermelux sizes, installs and maintains these drives throughout the Grand Duchy.
Why choose the Hörmann shaft drive
The shaft drive is the most widespread solution in industry and logistics. Mounted directly on the spring shaft, it transmits torque without an intermediate chain (except the chain transmission unit version). The natural choice when lateral space is available.
3 performance levels, one standard
WA 300 S4 for workshops with moderate traffic (150 cycles/day), WA 500 for intensive daily use (15 cycles/h), WA 500 FU for fast logistics flows (up to 1.0 m/s, 25 to 30 cycles/h). Same mounting principle, same Hörmann reliability.
Soft start / soft stop (WA 300 S4, WA 500 FU)
The WA 300 S4 and WA 500 FU incorporate progressive start and stop that protects the panel mechanism and reduces noise. For this function on a high-frequency door, choose the WA 500 FU inverter version rather than the WA 500.
chain transmission unit for reduced lateral space
The chain transmission unit version requires only 200 mm lateral clearance instead of direct shaft mounting. Suitable for all door types up to 7,500 mm height and provides a particularly gentle indirect power transmission.
Force limitation EN 12453
Force limitation is standard across the entire WA range. On doors without a wicket door, no installation on the door leaf (SKS, slack cable switch) is required - reducing costs and failure risks.
Wartungsentriegelung without dismounting
During mandatory annual inspections, the motor does not need to be removed from the spring shaft. The integrated maintenance release disengages the clutch in seconds - saving time and reducing maintenance costs.
Standby < 2 W with energy-saving
With the controller 560, the WA 500 and WA 500 FU motors enter standby mode < 2 W without connected accessories. Across a fleet of 10 doors, the annual saving is significant compared with drives without energy management.

(WA 500)The robust industrial drive. 230 V or 400 V three-phase, excellent running smoothness, no door size limitation at 400 V. Up to 15 cycles/hour at 400 V (12 at 230 V), 20 with the heavy-duty option. The baseline choice for logistics and production sites.

WA 500 FU
(WA 500 FU)The pinnacle of the shaft drive range. Integrated frequency inverter, speed up to 1.0 m/s with chain transmission unit and controller 560. Adaptive door travel control, European patent for constant speed on H and V fittings. The logistics reference.

Mounting options and control
Hörmann shaft drives are mounted in three ways depending on available space. Each mounting variant is compatible with all Hörmann command and safety accessories.
Diagonal mounting (flange)
Quick flange mounting directly on the spring shaft. The motor protrudes diagonally. Requires lateral space exceeding 200 mm. The standard configuration for most installations.

Mounting with chain transmission unit
Lateral chain box for reduced space (200 mm sufficient). Indirect, door-friendly power transmission. Mandatory for L and LD fittings. Enables 1.0 m/s with the WA 500 FU and controller 560.

Centre mounting (central mounting)
