The Hörmann ITO 500 FU combines a chain guide rail with a frequency inverter to deliver 0.5 m/s opening speed with zero lateral footprint. Sanft-Start and Sanft-Stopp as standard, adaptive door travel control, 25 cycles/hour (5 more possible up to 40 °C ambient, according to Hörmann). The reference solution for underground car parks, collective garages and residential complexes where lateral space is constrained.
Why choose the chain drive with rail
The ITO 500 FU rail-mounted chain drive addresses a recurring constraint in underground car parks and collective garages: insufficient lateral space for a shaft-mounted motor. Hörmann designed this solution specifically for such configurations.
Zero lateral footprint
Unlike shaft drives requiring a minimum 200 mm lateral clearance, the ITO 500 FU is mounted directly in the rail above the door. No lateral overhang: the space on either side remains free for service ducts or pedestrian access.
Integrated frequency inverter
The FU inverter controls the motor continuously: progressive acceleration, constant speed, smooth deceleration. The result: Sanft-Start and Sanft-Stopp that protects the panel mechanism and reduces noise in residential car parks.
25 cycles/hour continuous
The ITO 500 FU delivers 25 cycles/hour; Hörmann states 5 additional cycles/hour are possible up to 40 °C ambient - sufficient for residential complexes of 50 to 100 spaces during peak traffic.
Adaptive door travel control
The motorisation continuously monitors the regularity of door movement. Any anomaly (fatigued spring, dirty rail) automatically triggers a reduced operating mode and a preventive maintenance signal.
Self-locking gearbox for anti-intrusion
The ITO 500 FU gearbox is self-locking: in the closed position, the door cannot be lifted manually from outside. Mechanical anti-intrusion security without additional locking.
Standard Wartungsentriegelung
The maintenance release device allows the motor to be freed without dismounting from the shaft. Mandatory annual inspections are faster and less costly. Optional secured release inside/outside available.

Controlling your chain drive
The ITO 500 FU is controlled via the 560 controller and accepts all Hörmann command devices. For collective car parks, access control is a central consideration: badges, coded keypads, magnetic loops.
