Which for your use?
The real decision criterion is not the datasheet, it is your actual use. Here are the 6 typical profiles and the motor we recommend each time.
The door is under or next to a bedroom. Both operators use a toothed belt with soft start and soft stop; the faster SupraMatic shortens each cycle. Installation quality (rail fixing, balancing) matters as much as the model.
You already have a smart home ecosystem. SupraMatic has built-in Bluetooth and HCP interface; with the optional Hörmann WLAN gateway (and the HAP 1 HCP adapter), it can be controlled from Apple Home, Alexa or Google Home.
You are only replacing a broken motor on a Berry N80 or RenoMatic. No need for WLAN or HomeKit. ProMatic does the job for less.
You have a double garage door or a large made-to-measure door. Beyond 5,500 mm wide or 13.75 m², ProMatic 4 and SupraMatic E4 are no longer enough: you need a SupraMatic P4 (750 N, up to 6,000 mm and 15 m²) or H4 (1,000 N, up to 7,000 mm and 18 m²).
Garage separated from the house, workshop or storage use, low frequency. No noise constraint, no need for connectivity. ProMatic is largely enough.
Multiple entries and exits per day, several drivers. SupraMatic's higher speed (25 versus 20 cm/s) shortens every cycle - real daily comfort. For very intensive use, the SupraMatic P4 handles 50 cycles per day.
Our recommendation:
SupraMatic E4 for daily use
SupraMatic E4 wins 3 out of 8 criteria, against none for ProMatic 4, with 5 ties (including price, on quote for both). Faster, with built-in Bluetooth and 20-LED lighting, it justifies its premium as soon as the door is installed in an inhabited house with daily use.
ProMatic 4 stays the rational choice for a detached utility garage, a tight-budget replacement, or a door not located under a living space. It keeps one knockout argument - price - but that is often decisive.
